Dual Flip Paddle Bracket – Partial Kit (8mm AR500 Face Plate)
Dual Flip Paddle Bracket – Partial Kit with 8mm AR500 Face Plate
(For 90x35 Post Top Target Mount – Flip Paddle Brackets Not Included)
(This is a partial kit – designed for users who already have x2 Post Top Flip Paddle Brackets and 1x Post Top Target Mount)
The Dual Flip Paddle Bracket Partial Kit is a duelling tree-style add-on designed to bolt directly to the 90x35 Post Top Target Mount (sold separately). It includes a powder-coated steel base plate and a raw, uncoated 8mm AR500 armour plate face plate cut in a distinctive love-heart profile. This setup shields the brackets and deflects fragmentation downward while offering high durability for repeated centre-fire handgun use. Ideal for reactive speed drills, cowboy-style matches, or competitive pistol training.
The system functions by starting both paddles in the outward-facing position. In a competitive setup, Shooter A engages the left paddle, and Shooter B engages the right paddle. When hit, each paddle swings inward into the middle. The first paddle to flip will sit at the front, clearly showing who hit their target first—providing instant visual feedback in a fast-paced, reactive format.
Key Features:
✔ Duelling tree-style reactive kit – mounts x2 flip paddle brackets (sold separately)
✔ 8mm AR500 Face Plate – raw/uncoated, rated for repeated centre-fire handgun use
✔ Powder-Coated Base Plate – durable black finish with spring recoil device for impact deflection
✔ Modular & Upgradeable – use your existing brackets and match paddle material to your firearm setup
✔ Compact Format – delivers duelling-style interaction without the footprint of a full tree
Recommended Paddle Sizes:
✅ Best: 100mm or 150mm paddles – ideal for centre-fire handguns, with reliable flipping and proper proportional size
❌ Not recommended: 50mm paddles – while they may function, they are visually undersized and not suited to this system’s scale
⚠️ Note: While .22LR, .22 Magnum, and .17 HMR are safe to use with this AR500 face plate, they may struggle to reliably flip 100mm or 150mm paddles made from 8mm AR500 due to paddle weight.
For best performance with rimfire:
-
Use 6mm 100mm paddles in mild steel or AR450 for .22LR
-
Use 6mm AR450 paddles in 100mm or 150mm for .22 Magnum or .17 HMR
Paddle Compatibility Tips:
-
Use 6mm paddles for rimfire
-
Use 8mm paddles for centre-fire handguns
-
A stronger face plate with lighter paddles is fine, but the system is always rated to the weakest component
-
Example: If using 6mm mild steel paddles with this AR500 face plate, the system is only rated to mild steel limits
🛒 Flip paddles and brackets are sold separately – see our Gongs, Paddles & Target Plate Profiles category
Material Rating – 8mm AR500 Face Plate:
✔ Handgun Calibres: .22LR to .45
✔ Angled Use (16° to 20°+): 10 metres+
✔ Shotgun (Bird/Buck): 15 metres+
✔ Max Energy: 1,500 ft-lbs
✔ Max Velocity: 2,750 fps
✔ Min Velocity: 750 fps
❌ Not suitable for vertical shooting – this system is fully angled
❌ Not rated for high-velocity or magnum rifle rounds
⚠️ Subsonic rounds (<1,100 fps) may not reliably flip heavier paddles
⚠️ .22LR should be paired with lighter paddles for consistent function
