Compatibility & Use

✔ Specifically designed for the 10mm AR500 Scorpion Post
✔ Not compatible with 6mm or 8mm Scorpion Posts – will not fit due to thickness difference
✔ Best paired with 10mm AR500 target plates
✔ Physically compatible with 8mm AR500 targets – using a lighter plate is fine, but it does not increase the system’s rating
✔ Physically compatible with 6mm AR450 and 6mm Mild Steel targets, but not recommended – the system will only be rated to the weakest component
✔ Target plates must have a single-bolt centre mount

📌 Important Note: While heavier AR500 plates (10mm) don’t officially increase the overall safety rating of the Scorpion system to a great extent, they do allow for closer engagement distances as a big advantage for light rifle users and do offer increased impact resistance. From a distance-rating perspective, 10mm AR500 can handle full-power rifle calibres up to .30-06, but we do not recommend using heavy centrefire rifles with the Scorpion system.
Why? Because although the material itself is capable, the design of the system introduces excessive forward/backward movement and front leg lift under high-energy impacts — especially when engaging targets with large-calibre rifles. In most realistic scenarios, the Scorpion system won’t provide any advantage for larger rifle use, particularly since calibres like .308 or .30-06 still require 100m+ minimum engagement distances. For this reason, we strongly recommend using a Gong Frame Bracket Kit or stepping up to a Delta Series stand for long-range and magnum-calibre rifle applications. These systems are far more suited to the size, energy, and practical engagement ranges of larger-calibre rifles.

📌 As with all Slide-Lock systems, we recommend using a target plate that fully covers the hanger – not for protection (as this version is armoured), but to reduce visual distractions and maintain a clean target view presented to the shooter.

📌 Always ensure you're using the correct hanger for your Scorpion Post:

• 6mm Hanger = 6mm Post
• 8mm Hanger = 8mm Post
• 10mm Hanger = 10mm Post
  Matching the material ensures correct fitment — hangers will not physically attach to posts of a different thickness.

The only common powder-coated components across the Scorpion line-up are the base legs (6mm mild steel). The 6mm Mild Steel Scorpion Post and its hanger are the only variants with black powder coating applied. All other versions (AR450 and AR500) are supplied raw and uncoated.
