Durable Drop Paddle Optimised for Alpha Drop-Tree Systems

The 150mm Drop-Tree Paddle in robust 10mm AR500 armour steel is specifically engineered for optimal performance. It delivers reliable flipping action and outstanding impact resistance, ideal for handgun calibres (.22LR to .45 ACP), light rifle calibres (.223 Remington, 5.56 NATO, .300 Blackout), and shotgun calibres (.410 and 12 Gauge – birdshot or buckshot).

Unlike Duelling Trees with side-to-side paddle motion, Drop-Tree paddles descend vertically upon impact, encouraging improved sight alignment, consistent target tracking, and discouraging recoil-riding tactics.

📌 System Compatibility & Rating Information:
When used with the Alpha Drop-Tree (8mm AR500 armoured spine), this paddle maintains the system's AR500 rating. If paired with the Alpha Drop Tree, the system ensures safe and reliable function specifically for handgun, shotgun, and select rifle calibres.

You may see that 10mm AR500 is rated for full centrefire calibres up to .30-06 Springfield; however, we have adjusted the rating for safety to align with what this system’s other components can handle, such as the AR500 8mm spine of the Alpha Drop Tree, which is intended for handgun, shotgun, and light rifle calibres.

📌 Velocity Considerations for Proper Actuation:

Although this paddle withstands impacts from .22LR and .17HMR, these calibres are generally too weak to reliably actuate paddle flipping.

Small handgun calibres or handgun rounds with lower velocities (e.g., slow or subsonic 9mm rounds) may struggle to consistently actuate the paddle, especially at increased shooting distances. While 9mm rounds generally actuate well, reduced velocity from greater distances or lower-powered ammunition can affect reliable paddle function.

Higher-velocity impacts may cause excessive paddle flipping; adjust shooting distances accordingly to achieve optimal performance. Ensuring ammunition meets recommended minimum velocity standards is essential for consistent target actuation.

  • Rounds below recommended velocities may fail to actuate paddle reliably.

  • Regular inspection for signs of damage, especially after high-energy impacts, is recommended.
