Texas Star Target Plate – 150MM Round Profile (6MM AR450 Armour Steel)

Enhanced-Durability Texas Star Paddle for Rimfire – 150mm Diameter

The 150mm Round Texas Star Paddle in 6mm AR450 Armour Steel is a precision-cut circular target plate designed specifically for use with Stag Point Industries Texas Star Target Systems. It features a dog bone-shaped keyway that locks securely into all variations of our Texas Star arms, allowing for quick installation and smooth resets during use.

✔ Round Target Profile – 150mm circular paddle designed for a larger strike zone and reactive movement
✔ Material – 6mm AR450 Armour Steel – Rated for rimfire calibres including .22LR, .22 Magnum, and .17 HMR
✔ Dog Bone Keyway – Drop-in style mount with dog bone-shaped keyway locks into all variations of our Texas Star arms
✔ Purpose-Built – Fully compatible with SPI Texas Star systems
✔ Consistent Setup – Most users run all five paddles in the same size for predictable performance
✔ Multiple Purchase Options – Available individually or in a 5-pack to suit standard 5-arm Texas Star systems

📌 Velocity & Distance Guidelines (Vertical Targets Only):
Handgun: 50 metres minimum
Rifle: 50 metres minimum
Shotgun (birdshot only): 20 metres minimum
Maximum Velocity: 2,650 fps at impact
Maximum Energy: 300 ft-lbs
Minimum Velocity: 700 fps at impact
⚠ Subsonic rounds (under 1,100 fps) may not activate moving target plates. Rounds slower than 500 fps may fail to fragment and could result in ricochet or bounce-back — especially with soft lead pellets or copper-plated rounds.

📌 Paddle & Arm Compatibility:
This paddle fits all current SPI Texas Star arms — including arms made from 6mm Mild Steel, 6mm AR450, and 8mm AR500. It is purpose-built for rimfire use and offers added durability over mild steel while maintaining proper functionality.
When mounted to mild steel arms, the entire system must be treated as .22LR-only, as the arm material becomes the limiting factor. It is not recommended to use this paddle with mild steel arms if shooting beyond standard .22LR.

An 8mm AR500 plate doesn’t flinch at .22LR. It’s built for serious punch, not polite requests. Stick with 6mm for proper functionality.
While .22LR can make contact with 8mm plates, it will not reliably eject them from the Texas Star. As a result, 8mm AR500 paddles are not recommended for rimfire calibres — not due to durability, but simply because they don’t function correctly with lower-energy rounds.

You can safely run this paddle on AR450 or AR500 arms when using rimfire ammunition. However, never run a thicker or higher-rated paddle on a lower-rated arm. For example, using an 8mm paddle on a 6mm Mild Steel arm may lead to excessive wear, deformation, or even dangerous shrapnel deflection in unpredictable directions.

All SPI Texas Star systems are rated based on the weakest component in the shooting zone.

📌 High Volume Use Recommendation:
For high-volume use and demand, this 6mm AR450 paddle is a great step up from mild steel. It offers increased wear resistance while maintaining full compatibility with all SPI Texas Star arms — with less frequent target replacement due to wear, as AR450 will last significantly longer than mild steel.

📌 Not Compatible With:
This paddle is not compatible with duelling tree or drop tree systems. It is designed exclusively for Stag Point Industries Texas Star setups.

📌 Additional Notes on .22LR Use with 150mm Paddle:
Due to the larger diameter and increased mass, this paddle may require minor adjustment to the spring retainer when used with standard .22LR. For best results, we recommend using high-velocity, hyper, or supersonic .22LR ammunition to maximise the energy available to eject the plate.
.22 Magnum and .17 HMR generally perform without issue and do not require spring adjustment. If using .22LR and the paddle does not reliably eject, reduce spring tension slightly — but take care not to loosen it too far, or the paddle may eject prematurely due to vibration from other hits.
