Product Overview:
This 6mm Premium Mild Steel Cover Plate is a bolt-on protective upgrade for the REACK X-Base. It acts as a sacrificial barrier to protect the main body of the base from direct impacts caused by stray shots. While it doesn't prevent normal fragmentation or splash from reactive targets reaching the base, it adds a crucial layer of protection to reduce wear and enhance safety at the front of the system.

In rare cases where a projectile makes direct contact with the base, there is a chance it could deflect unpredictably. This cover plate is designed specifically to combat and eliminate that risk, helping to safely absorb or deflect that energy in a controlled direction—away from the shooter. It gives peace of mind by hiding the main body of the REACK X-Base from the shooter’s line of sight and acting as a first line of defence.

This system acts as a two-way defence:
✔ It helps stop projectiles from hitting the base directly, reducing damage and wear.
✔ It also helps trap and redirect shrapnel or splash, preventing fragments from reaching the firing line and enhancing shooter safety.

The plate mounts using a recoil spring system, allowing it to flex under impact and absorb minor energy. This helps preserve the base over time and keeps your system field-ready for longer.

Why Not Armour the Whole Base?
It might seem like making the entire REACK base out of armour steel would improve safety—but it doesn’t solve the real issue. Because of how the base is shaped, a projectile that hits the centre can still deflect in unpredictable ways, no matter how strong the material is. The angles of the base are what cause these deflections—not the steel itself.

Even if we made the base from armour plate, we would still have to use a protective front cover to shield the main body from the shooter’s line of sight. In that case, you’d just be putting armour steel in front of armour steel, which adds cost with no real benefit.

Instead, we’ve designed a smarter system: keep the base lightweight and easy to handle, and use a replaceable cover plate to protect the critical front section. It’s available in three material options, so you can choose the right balance of weight and protection for your setup.

The 6mm mild steel version is best suited for rimfire and light-calibre use, acting as a cost-effective, replaceable shield to protect the base behind.
