90x35 POST Top Mount Gong Hanger (VERTICAL)
Vertical Timber Post Gong Mount for Stake & Shoot stakes fitted with the 90x35 POST RECEIVER ADAPT Bracket Kit

The POST Top Mount Gong Hanger (Vertical) is a budget-friendly gong hanger designed to hold small to medium-sized steel targets in a fully upright, vertical orientation. It bolts directly to the top of a 90x35mm timber post and is best used with our 90x35 POST RECEIVER ADAPT Bracket Kit and Stake & Shoot Heavy Duty Ground Stake. This system is simple, low-profile, and ideal for lightweight portable shooting setups where angled deflection isn’t essential.

Black Powder-Coated Finish – Durable, weather-resistant coating built for long-term outdoor use
Integrated Recoil Spring – Helps absorb impact energy, reducing stress on the hanger and target plate
Vertical Mount Design – Holds your gong target in a fully upright position, giving you a true-size visual profile from the shooter’s perspective
Quick Slide-On/Slide-Off Mounting – Allows fast removal or target changes—simply slide the hanger on or off the top of your timber post
Stake System Optimised – Works best with Stake & Shoot stakes using the 90x35 POST RECEIVER ADAPT Bracket Kit (sold separately)
DIY-Ready – Suitable for custom setups using 90x35mm timber posts
X-Base Compatible (Not Recommended) – Will physically fit the X-Base Timber Stand, but see deflection/safety notes below

⚠️ Safety, Deflection & Target Choice Notes:
This hanger holds the target vertically, meaning it does not angle the plate forward. As a result, projectile splatter is not as tightly controlled as with our angled target mounts. Shrapnel can disperse in multiple directions, especially when using higher-energy rimfire or pistol calibres. To maintain a safe buffer zone for fragmentation, this system must only be used at extended distances, in accordance with our Safety, Distance & Calibre Ratings Guide.

For closer-range shooting, we strongly recommend using our Angled Post Top Target Mount, which helps direct splatter downward into the ground for safer use and closer engagement. Angled systems better manage fragmentation and protect the shooter and surrounding gear.

Important Note on Base Compatibility:
While this hanger can physically fit the X-Base 90x35 Timber Stand, it is not recommended for use with X-Base setups. The vertical plate face may cause excessive splatter into the steel base and legs, leading to premature wear. This system is best used with Stake & Shoot stakes and the 90x35 POST RECEIVER ADAPT Bracket Kit, which do not expose any base hardware to the target’s deflection zone.

✅ Target Plate Recommendation:
We recommend pairing this mount with a single-bolt-hole gong, such as our Plate Rack Round Gong options. Using a central mount bolt ensures that all designated holes in the gong remain visible, giving the shooter a complete visual profile of the target. This not only enhances presentation but provides a cleaner aesthetic and makes full use of the target’s design.

💡 Summary:

  • Best suited for budget-friendly builds and DIY timber post systems

  • Works great with small to medium gongs mounted on Stake & Shoot ground systems via the 90x35 POST RECEIVER ADAPT Bracket Kit

  • Slide-on/off post fit allows quick removal for pack-up or target changes

  • Requires longer shooting distances for safe operation due to its vertical orientation

  • If you need closer target engagement, consider upgrading to the Angled Post Top Mount for improved safety and splatter control

  • Recommended for users who understand the trade-offs between cost, distance, and deflection
