The SPI Hatchet Target Stake is a compact ground-mounted reactive target system designed exclusively for use with Stag Point Industries Hatchet Gong Target Plates fitted with the SPI Hatchet rectangular mounting cut-out. Designed around low-profile IPSC-style shooting, practical training, and recreational plinking applications, the Hatchet Stake provides a simple and highly portable reactive target mounting solution that can be deployed directly into the ground.
Manufactured from 6mm AR450 armour steel, this version is designed primarily for rimfire applications including .22LR, .22 Magnum, and .17HMR where increased durability over mild steel is desired while still maintaining reliable target actuation with lower-energy calibres.
The Hatchet Stake is compatible with all SPI Hatchet Gong Target Plates regardless of gong size, provided the target plate utilises the SPI Hatchet mounting cut-out system. This allows users to interchange target plate sizes and materials depending on their intended application.
The low-profile design makes the Hatchet Stake ideal for IPSC-style stages, practical shooting drills, reactive plinking, and compact target setups where ground-mounted targets are preferred.

Why Use a Cover Plate?
The optional 6MM AR450 Cover Plate is designed to help protect the Hatchet mechanism area from direct projectile impacts which may deform the mechanism section over time.
However, while the cover plates help shield the stake from direct hits, they do not eliminate wear caused by accumulated projectile splash and fragmentation deflecting from the target plate itself. Larger calibres and prolonged use with hardened target plates may still cause wear to the stake system over time due to splash deflection from the target face onto the mounting system.
For maximum service life, we recommend matching the stake material, cover plate material, and target plate material to the intended calibre being used.
