Round IPSC Reactive Gong for Hatchet Hanger Systems
The SPI Hatchet Gong Target Plate is a purpose-built round reactive steel target designed exclusively for use with the Stag Point Industries Hatchet Hanger and Hatchet Arm systems. Developed around IPSC-style training and competition shooting, these targets deliver fast visual feedback, reliable movement, and smooth target presentation when paired with compatible Hatchet mounting systems.
Manufactured from 6mm AR450 armour steel, these round gongs are designed for rimfire applications where improved durability over mild steel is desired while still maintaining reliable target actuation with lower-energy calibres.
The lighter plate weight allows improved movement and consistent operation with calibres such as .22LR, .22 Magnum and .17HMR firearms, making them ideal for IPSC-style rimfire training, recreational shooting, and high-volume practice.
The forward-angled resting position allows shrapnel control while allowing the target to react by rotating rearward when struck, creating a clean and highly visible reactive target system.
Unlike traditional falling plate systems where the target drops to the ground after impact, the SPI Hatchet System is designed so the target falls rearward and becomes non-visible from the shooter’s perspective while remaining attached to the hanger system. This allows for faster stage resets, reduced downtime, and eliminates the need to continually pick targets up off the ground between stages.

Why 6MM AR450?
The 6mm AR450 version is designed for shooters wanting increased durability over mild steel while still retaining proper target actuation with lower-energy rimfire calibres. It is an excellent option for high-volume .22LR shooting, .22 Magnum, .17HMR, and similar rimfire applications where mild steel may wear prematurely.
The reduced target weight compared to 8mm AR500 also allows more reliable movement with lower-powered ammunition that may struggle to actuate heavier centrefire-rated target plates like 8mm AR500.
