Product Overview:
The 8mm AR500 Armour Face Plate is our toughest bolt-on upgrade for the REACK X-Base. Designed to protect the main body of the base from powerful handgun, light rifle, and shotgun impacts, this face plate is ideal for centre-fire handgun users, tactical training environments, and those running higher-pressure ammunition in short- to mid-range setups.

While the REACK base is angled and sits low, stray hits to the front face can still happen—especially when engaging reactive targets. This plate acts as a hardened front shield, helping to absorb and deflect energy away from the shooter and prevent damage to the base structure. Whether you're training with .223, .300 Blackout, or 12-gauge shotguns, this plate gives you the confidence to shoot closer while maintaining a higher level of safety.

The plate uses a recoil spring mounting system, allowing it to flex slightly under impact and redirect force while preserving the integrity of the base. Rated for calibres producing up to 1,500 ft-lbs of energy at speeds up to 2,750 fps, this is the highest-rated REACK face plate we offer.

This system acts as a two-way defence:
✔ It helps block direct impacts to the base, extending service life under hard use.
✔ It also helps catch and contain deflection or shrapnel, keeping fragments away from the firing line.

Why Not Armour the Whole Base?
It might seem like making the entire REACK base out of armour steel would improve safety—but it doesn’t solve the real issue. Because of how the base is shaped, a projectile that hits the centre can still deflect in unpredictable ways, no matter how strong the material is. The angles of the base are what cause these deflections—not the steel itself.

Even if we made the base from armour plate, we would still have to use a protective front cover to shield the main body from the shooter’s line of sight. In that case, you’d just be putting armour in front of armour, which adds weight and cost with no real benefit.

Instead, we’ve designed a smarter system: keep the base lightweight and easy to handle, and use a replaceable armour face plate to protect the critical front section. It’s available in three material options, so you can choose the right balance of weight and protection for your setup.

The 8mm AR500 version is ideal for shooters running handguns, shotguns, and light rifles—offering serious protection where it matters most.
