The Scorpion Post Target Stand – 6mm AR450 is a modular steel alternative to timber post systems, built for rimfire shooters who need more durability than mild steel can offer. Designed around our proven X-Base-style four-leg format, this system features a 3-piece post made entirely from 6mm AR450 steel, including a matching slide-lock hanger. This configuration offers better impact resistance for high volume shooter using higher-velocity rimfire rounds while maintaining a clean and compact footprint for storage and transport.

📏 Dimensions & Setup Footprint
The base covers an approximate footprint of 800mm x 830mm when fully set up. The height to the centre of the target mounting bolt is approximately 1400mm, providing a stable and elevated shooting profile.

Why Use a Steel Post Instead of Timber?

The narrow profile of the Scorpion’s AR450 steel post offers a less distracting sight picture while dramatically increasing durability when shooting higher-energy rimfire rounds. The single-bolt centre mount system allows the hanger to be shielded by the target plate, minimising exposed hardware and helping the system visually blend behind the plate.

The forward lean of the post helps deflect bullet fragmentation downward for added safety, and the modular design unbolts for easy packing, taking up far less space than a fixed timber post setup.

📌 Important: While 6mm mild steel target plates can be used with this system, for best performance and safety, we recommend pairing the 6mm AR450 post with an AR450 target plate.
The entire system is only rated to the weakest component within the shooting zone – so always match the target plate to your post for consistent performance.

Leg Durability & Strength

The Scorpion legs are made from 6mm powder-coated mild steel, offering excellent strength. During normal use the legs will only receive shrapnel impact that has lost most of its mass and velocity from the initial impact to the target plate. They are strong, impact-resistant and positioned outside the primary shooting zone.
Should the legs take damage from a rare direct hit, the legs are fully replaceable and available separately.

Anchoring & Setup Tips

📌 For best results with heavier targets or when shooting on uneven terrain, we recommend anchoring the system using V-Stakes or 300mm Nail Pegs (sold separately)
